Dear Reader,
Happy Valumtimes Day!!! I'm am currently unsingalized as of Feb 4th to wonderful guy by the name of Jeffrey Schulte. That part of my life is going swimmingly and I couldn't be more happy about it!
This past Friday I was able to spend some time with some girls at the apartment on Main Street. We had a really good time watching movies, playing guitar, and talking. Although, the last movie we watched, What's Your Number, was terrible. About 20 minutes into the movie I asked consistently why we were still watching it. Firstly, here's my babble about chick-flick-type movies:
Most are so unrealistic and the only thing that comes from them is the ideology that we should be expecting a man to be everything we've always wanted.
Secondly, here's my babble on recent CFTM's:
They seem to showing that women today have a really low standard on sexuality, dating, and themselves.
Don't get me wrong, Reader, I don't think these movies are necessarily bad (besides the first one! Man!), but it can give women this weird expectation of men that is simply out of reach. Although I truthfully believe God makes that person tailored especially to us, they aren't meant to satisfy all of our needs. Let me explain with saying this:
This past week I've realized that unless I am consistently turning to, and finding satisfaction in the Lord, a relationship will not be successful and will not reach it's full potential. Simply because I have certain longings that can only be satisfied in Him. To try to find satisfaction in anything else is the same as idolism.
All that rambling basically to say, I wish I could look around and see more women being satisfied in the Lord, not just waiting for their husband. A lot of me wishes I would've understood that sooner, so I sympathize with the difficulty of the situation. Still, it's hard to watch these movies with girls like I was the other night, and wonder where their finding fulfillment. Is it the man or the One who created Him.
Chelsy.
